The village of Singles in the upper Dordogne valley, through which La Burande flows, is home to old silver lead mines and is a favourite with gold diggers...
Silver-lead mines as well as coal mines were exploited in Singles.
There is a vast gold field around the Pont-Vieux concession on the Burande. It is considered to be the oldest in France (1847) being granted for gold. Every summer, the Tourist Office organises initiations to the search for gold in the Burande at the foot of the campsite.
Situated 2.5 km from the campsite, it is an extremely quiet place at the confluence of the Dordogne and the Burande, at the most upstream point of the Bort-les-Orgues dam.
It is a very popular spot for fishermen with a boat launch and a lovely picnic area on the banks of the Dordogne.
This river is classified in 2nd category. The reservoir covers 1200 hectares. You can fish for trout, carp, perch, pike and zander.

The Bort les Orgues dam lake is the largest of the reservoirs managed by the Corrèze, with a surface area of 1073 hectares, a length of 21 kilometres and depths of up to 110 metres.
This sumptuous reservoir alternates all the profiles of the banks, from the beach to the rocky peaks.
It borders the Puy-de-Dôme (63) and the Cantal (15).
Its reputation is mainly due to carnivorous fishing (pike-perch, big perch and pike) but it is not without its share of carp and mirror carp, with some beautiful 20 kg fish.
