Our small village of 170 inhabitants (Les Singlois) located in the Puy de Dôme, Auvergne, is situated high on a hill at 740 metres above the sea level, it is surrounded by three rivers (see the Fishing section): There are no shops here. 4 km from the other side of the river village Larodde, and on the other side of the lake : Confolent -Port-Dieu in Corrèze: A 12th century chapel by the lake , remains of the monasteries.

Tauves : A county town at 9 km east. The Artense plateau with an altitude of 840 m. All shops and basic services are present: bakery, butchers, a new small supermarket (only recently opened), bar, pizzeria, restaurant, newsagent's shop, household appliances, hardware store, post office, daycare, pharmacy and physicians. On Thursday morning there is a market with many local products, such as Auvergne cheeses, ‘charcuterie’ (bacon, ham, sausages, terrines, galantines, pâtés and confit), honey and cakes ...

La Tour d’Auvergne : A village perched on the heights of Artense on the west side of the Massif du Sancy. It is situated on an altitude of 1000 m and it is well known in French history thanks to Catherine de Medicis’ daughter Marguerite de Valois (1553-1615) also known as "La Reine Margot " (queen Margot) wife of Henry IV, who was the owner of the castle. This castle was destroyed by order of Louis XIII. The town offers a sports complex and nearby there is a beautiful lake to take a nice swim. In A St- Pardoux you can visit the beautiful church of the 12th century.
